In the upper sitting room of Woodhurst Hospital smartly dressed nurses are seen caring for their patients.
Compared with the trend nowadays of being discharged at the earliest opportunity, long-term convalescence following surgery was commonplace in those days. Certainly these patients do not look seriously ill!
