Bowling Green behind the Red Lion

Before the present bowling green was opened in 1936 the Handcross Bowling Club operated from behind the Red Lion.
The photograph shows the green being constructed with the Zoar Baptist Chapel in the background on the left.
My grandfather, Jim Longhurst, is farthest from the camera, and was one of the men involved in the construction of the present green some years later.
