Memorial service for Col. J. R. Warren

Col. J. Raymond Warren of the Hyde estate in Handcross died in 1956 and shortly after the funeral service a memorial service was held in St Mary’s, Slaugham to celebrate a lifetime of achievement.
By present day standards he passed away at an early age of 67 years, but he worked tirelessly for the parish throughout his life. The church must have been absolutely crammed full with so many wishing to pay their respects, both from the parish and much farther afield.
