May Day Festival 1920 Staplefield

The May Day procession at Staplefield included several horse-drawn Sussex wagons decorated with foliage and flowers.
The Large Version shows a close up of the horse and wagon. Note the brass bells on top of the back of the second horse. In the background is Pear Tree Cottage, adjacent to the entrance to Tanyard Lane.
Click on Open Document for two further pictures of the procession. The pictures are probably taken with a box camera and not very clear. The smallest children wore costumes to represent nursery rhymes.
Please can anyone identify the house on the left of the first photograph (see Open Document)? It has scaffolding and is clearly under construction. I cannot find it on any subsequent maps! (Please visit picture #1092 to see comments on this subject.)
