May Day Festival 1922 Staplefield

At the May Day procession at Staplefield Common one of the wagons was reserved for the musicians and perhaps this is the one on the left of the picture.
The Large Version shows the final section of the procession with the “King and Queen of the Revels” leading. The King is certainly playing his part well with a most imperial swagger.
Some spectators have arrived in their horse-drawn carriage providing them with a grandstand view.
