Handcross Park Cricket Team 1907

The country estates around Handcross often employed a large number of staff and it was common for the estates to have their own cricket pitch and team. Here is an early picture from 1907 of the Handcross Park cricket team, with the umpire in the white coat at the back.
From left to right.
Back row:- C. Tester, S. Reynolds, W. Adams, T. Longhurst, - Adams.
Middle:- W. Creasey, J. R. Warren, H. Stillwell
Front:- E. Ansfield, Unknown, J. Blyther
There are only five names offered for the back row and perhaps the umpire has not been named.
Although J. Raymond Warren was only about 18-years-old at the time, he seems to have been appointed captain, the position he held for many years both at Handcross Park and the Hyde where he and his wife set up home in 1926.
