Funeral for Vanguard accident victim

Following the terrible motorbus accident on Handcross Hill on 12th July 1906, the residents of Orpington and St Mary Cray had to endure the funerals of ten of the own over the next few weeks. Pictures of the funeral of the undertaker, Harry Hutchings,
can be viewed by searching for numbers 862 to 864, but there are several indications that the funeral cortège pictured above is that of one of the other victims.
I note that the postcard was posted on 14th August 1906 from Chelsfield, a small village just outside Orpington. The writer draws the recipient’s attention to the picture overleave. I wonder if the funeral was that of Mr William Bailey, the headmaster of Chelsfield Primary School. See further information with picture #865.
Crowds line the pavement and one gentleman is doffing his bowler in respect while others are either bare-headed or wearing caps or straw boaters.
The Large Version shows a close up of the cortège.
