Aerial picture of fire at Handcross Park

In 1935 a devastating fire swept through Handcross Park, the home of Mrs Lily Warren, the mother of Colonel J. Raymond Warren of the Hyde estate. It seems that a light plane was sent up to take aerial pictures of the fire and another can be seen at picture #1146. The above photograph appeared in the News Chronicle of 24th May 1935.
A view of the fire from ground level is available on picture #16.
Click on Open Document to view an obituary of Mrs Warren who died in 1946, aged 93. She was a great benefactor as can be seen in picture #610.
