Handcross Band 1895

The photograph of Handcross Band in 1895 was taken professionally and most members are wearing the full uniform.
I cannot name any except for the conductor holding his baton and wearing a dog collar and cross. He was chairman of the committee, Rev. G. M. Macdermott, and was assistant clergy at Slaugham from 1890 to 1897.
The bass drum bears the inscription “Handcross Brass Band – December 1891”, the month of formation.
The Large Version provides a close up. Further clicks on the photograph will zoom in and out.
The practice sessions were very strict, as was the general organisation, and this can be demonstrated by viewing a page from the Minute Book of 1895. Click on Open Document to view.
