Staplefield cricket club are gathered for a team photograph which also includes the umpire and scorer.
A large roller can be seen on the extreme left, but I think a mower would have been more useful!
From the left, back row:- Fred Edwards (Umpire), Ronald Constable, Wid Brown, John Robins, Cecil Leggett, Albert “Drummer” Robins.
Front row:- Sidney Russell, P. Botting (Captain), Donald Baines, Albert Cheal (Scorer), Bert Pattenden, Sam Cheeswright , Jack Marriner.

No, I cannot recognise the location either. It all points to it being an away match they were playing. There are no further clues on the reverse of the photograph.

Using my investigative skills I have established that the photograph was indeed taken in Staplefield. The house, later demolished, is shown in picture #1091 (Open document).
The building to the left is the Old Smithy; see picture #301.
Please can anyone give the precise year in the 1920s that Holly Cottages, etc. were built? It would appear to be after 1922.
