Archie Quick's garage

This article from the July 1987 monthly magazine, Esso Newsline, featured Archie Quick, a pioneering engineer from Handcross.
Mr Quick would never be seen in some brightly coloured works overalls. For him it has to be trousers with braces, white check shirt, and a smart tie.
“Unleash that Tiger” says the sign on the pump, and Mr Quick looks as if he has a tiger in the tank this morning!
I note that the article refers to the garage “forecourt”, and I wonder if visitors to the pump will be disappointed to find that the forecourt is actually a pavement in a busy High Street! Did the writer actually visit the garage?
Further details of the ancient pump can be found with picture #120.

Fantastic picture! I wish the price per gallon still applied.
I love this site. Well done, Barry
