West Lodge, Handcross Park

Here is another picture of Handcross Park West Lodge, which, despite the faded nature of the postcard, shows its magnificent chimneystack in all its glory. What a shame that at some time in the past it was deemed necessary to reduce the height by some 11 courses of brick; say about 3 feet.
The pointed finial on top of the pillar on the extreme right has been missing since the 1990s and the reason can be found by looking at the comments to picture #509.
A well-dressed lady is walking briskly along the road, and a close up can be found on the Large Version. Could she be a teacher from the school on the other side of the road?
