Handcross school fete - September 1968

Being held aloft at the Handcross school fete by headmaster, Frank Hawksworth, is Ruth Pattenden to receive her reward for winning the fancy dress competition from comedian, Tommy Trinder. He was performing at Eastbourne for the summer season with Jill Paris, an actress from Handcross who also attended the fete and judged the hairy legs competition. Fortunately the winner was a man, in the person of Mr P. Arnold.
Ruth was dressed as Mother Hubbard and the other winner was Gareth Morris as a spaceman.
