A picnic in Balcombe Forest

The view is typical of the road from Handcross to Balcombe but is described as being Pilgrims’ Way in Balcombe Forest. Whether the avenue lines a public road, I am not sure.
George Constable from Handcross is pictured having a picnic with his wife and baby. Could the family be George Harold Constable and his wife, Winifred, who married in 1947 and had a son, David, in 1952?
