Baptism at St Mark's Church, Staplefield

From 1911 to 1923, Rev. William Alfred Dengate , his wife, Agnes, and their two children, Phyllis “Mollie” and Daphne lived in Casterbridge and then Lynwood in the High Street, Handcross, but then they moved away to live and serve in the parish of Mountfield in East Sussex for some 7 years. In 1930 they returned to the area and Rev. Dengate became vicar of Staplefield until he passed away in 1948.
The baptism certificate was presented to Dennis Johnson who was born on 12th December 1945, and baptised on 11th August 1946 with Rev. Dengate officiating. At the age of two he and his family moved from Brighton Road, Handcross to 28, Truggers when it first became available in 1948.
