Slaugham Parish Council matters 1960-1972

The earliest document I can find relating to the election results for the Slaugham Parish Council is dated 12th May 1960 when there were 17 candidates for the 13 places.
There is a large representation from Slaugham, being Mrs Phyllis Benn, Mrs Isobel Dundas, Brigadier Bobby Loder, Tom Wilson, and Jim Longhurst. The latter was my maternal grandfather who served as a councillor for over 30 years.
It is right and proper that we should pay tribute to Sid Beard from Pease Pottage who served on the Council for so many years of his adult life.
The Large Version shows the full document, which is in a very distressed state!
Select Open Document to view two newspaper cuttings listing the candidates for the 1972 Slaugham Parish Council election. They make great play of the high percentage of lady candidates.
