The Hyde cricket team from Handcross

No details are attached to this photograph of the Hyde cricket team and the date has been estimated.
With Col. J. Raymond Warren in the centre of the group I suspect that the local team are playing against the colonel’s regiment, the Royal Sussex Regiment, probably a regular annual fixture. A similar picture of these two teams from another year is available and can be seen at picture #1476.
The following have been identified, but perhaps someone can add more names or make any corrections.
Back row: 1st A. Bartlett (umpire), 4th Bill Doggett.
Middle row: 1st William Biggs, 5th Col. J. R. Warren, 6th Percy Faulkner, 7th T. Bailey, 8th Walter Biggs.
Front row: 1st George Cooper, 2nd David Rennie, 7th Ebbie Robins.

My dad, Albert Victor Skilton, front row third from the right, used to work at the Hyde.
He was a lodger with the Haylor family in Warren Cottages.

Front row, third from right, is my father Albert Skilton. He worked for Col. Warren at The Hyde as a gardener.
I never knew he'd played cricket!
As a child, I remember we would take trips by train and bus from our home in Brighton and have a picnic in the Hyde grounds.

Frances, I expect your father, Albert Skilton, was living at 13 Warren Cottages, the home of Samuel and Lizzie Haylor with, at the time of the 1911 Census, their children Roland (8)and Kathleen (5).
