Hyde cricket club, Handcross 1936

Players and officials of the Hyde cricket team from 1936 gather for a photograph at their home ground.
Back row: A. Bartlett (umpire), E. Cadogan, R. Constable, George Cooper, R. Dix, R. Loveland, F. Vidler (scorer).
Middle row: Arthur Brown, Tom Bailey, Percy Falkner, J. Bailey, Walter Biggs.
Front row: William Biggs, C. Mills.
Around 1932 an extraordinary needle match took place between the Hyde and the Handcross cricket club. The Handcross team were all out for just one run, with Tom Bailey and Billy Biggs doing all the damage for the Hyde.
Tom Pateman had the honour of scoring the only run for Handcross, and Bill Snelling, Snr, retired butcher, was not out at the end.
