Handcross High StreetLooking north along Handcross High Street in 1988, a smart Austin Allegro is in pole position.
The office on the left had a Abbey National agency. It was to be some years before the traffic-calming measures were introduced in the form of kerb extensions to assist pedestrians crossing the road.
The Large Version shows Agrivet Farm Supplies in the shop once famously occupied by E. S. Hibbs and Son.
Select Open Document to view three more images from 1988. The first includes Roberts House on the extreme left and a general view of the southern end of the High Street. The second shows Handcross Newsagents, and the third, the office of estate agents, Hamilton, Smith and Sargents, on the extreme right.
