Lucas Garden Statuary in High Street, Handcross

In 1988 the Pine Loft in the High Street was home to Lucas Garden Statuary. Another use of this old farm building can be seen on picture #456.
The document attached to picture #1498 showed the estate agents of Hamilton, Smith and Sargents in the middle of the High Street. However the Large Version shows the same building and same trade, but with the name shown as Sussex Homes Centre. Which came first, I know not!
Chose Open Document to view comments on the Tithe Maps and other records relating to the eastern side of the High Street with particular reference to Chodds Farmhouse and, just to the south, Windhills.
I am intrigued that Ann Batchelor occupied land in 1835 called Old Inn Land. I also wonder if she is connected with Batchelors Buildings on the western side of the High Street, which were built in 1809. (See picture #416)
