Handcross Dance Band

The picture is of Handcross Band performing on the stage at some venue, but perhaps not the Parish Hall as surely there they always had a decent backdrop!
From the pennants hanging from the music stands it seems clear that this was the era when the band changed its style and promoted itself as the “Handcross Dance Band”.

Comments:
The girl sitting 4th from the right is me. My name is Janet Young not White. The boy on the far right is my brother, Robert, who briefly played cornet and helped out on percussion.
I still play the horn in the NE of Essex and am ever grateful for the start Handcross band gave me on my way to becoming a music teacher.

(Janet, many thanks for correction. I have adjusted your name in the text above. Barry)

Sorry I was not a very diligent band member, and not a very good cornet player.
Much to my later regret I did not continue with the cornet, although I was happy to help out at band functions.
