Handcross school football team

Under the watchful eye of our coach, headmaster Mr Edward Scofield, the football team of Handcross primary school pose for a photograph. I am not sure why there are thirteen players; perhaps two are substitutes.
Our strip was not very coordinated, but at least it was not covered with sponsors’ names!
In that era the ball was not regularly treated with dubbing wax and the leather soon absorbed any water on the pitch. Anyone daring to head the ball was likely to be decapitated!
Left to right, back row:- Bernard Miles, Andrew Sargent, Andrew Wickham, John Stewart, Stephen Cox, Michael Feist, Andrew Cook.
Front row:- Michael Kinnard??, Graham Pateman??, Peter Wheeler, Derek James, Laurence Ray, David Haynes.

Comments:
Number one in the front row is not Michael Kinnard, it is Kenneth Awcock from Pease Pottage.
I can remember this photo being taken.
As a side note, only English kids wear ties to play football; that was quite the uniform we wore in those days!

I've got my gloves on, so I must have been the goalie!
My pudding basin haircut must have been all the rage then.
