Memorial to George Berney Allen of Free Chase

This is the stone memorial to George Berney Allen who lived at Free Chase in Warninglid.
You queried in picture #1432 whether it was still there, so I thought I'd send you this photograph.
I took the picture on 26th July 2015.
The inscription is as stated by Cristopher Nix in his letter and reads "To the spirit of George Berney Allen who loved Free Chase. Born 1862. Died 1917."

Wonderful to know that there is a memorial to George Berney Allen, who was much revered in our family.
My grandfather, H. V. Geere, was Editor of "The Near East" under Allen's ownership, until his own death in 1923.
Thank you so much for this information. I understand that the lovely house "Free Chase" has been replaced by a modern property, but I have some photographs of the old house taken in 1963. My mother loved it.
