Jack Miles and the sewage collection lorry

The picture is not clear but, nevertheless, it is an important addition to the archives as it was not usual for someone with an irrisistable urge to take a picture of such a vehicle!
Standing beside the sewage collection lorry belonging to Cuckfield Rural District Council is one of the operators, Jack Miles from Truggers, Handcross. Another co-worker was Harold Constable.
The photograph was taken at the local depot where the sewage was processed, now the location of the West Park estate at the top of Coos Lane.
More ancient modes of sewage collection in Handcross can be found at picture #730, and picture #879.
The Large Version shows a close up.
