Staplefield cricket team 1953

This is Staplefield cricket team from 1953, with a decrepit barn in the background. Most of the players I recognise, but not the barn!
From the left, back row: Les Pateman, Unknown, Harold Morley, Charlie Pennifold, Rex Ray, Joe Ray, Roger Ray.
Front row: Tom Cave, Alan Pattenden, John Robins (Captain), Gerry Ray, Mike Honey.

Select Open Document to view a newspaper report of the local “derby” match played at Handcross against Staplefield. Confusingly, the photograph is not of the Staplefield team which played against Handcross on 31st August Bank Holiday Monday, as David Mordaunt is not in the picture!
The 1953 fixtures card does not show any match on August Bank Holiday, and presumably the match was arranged after the card was printed.

Cricket - Staplefield
Standing at second from left is Roy Barratt.
The "decrepit barn" was located next to the cricket ground at Bolney where Staplefield were playing an away match.

I have now found a faded copy of the newspaper cutting reporting on the match played between Bolney and Staplefield, played at Bolney on 5th July 1953.
The cutting can be viewed by selecting Open Document.
