Fountain Inn, Handcross (2 of 7)

For a while in the 1960s we lads used to gather at the Fountain for a Saturday lunchtime drink.
Here is a typical group enjoying the sunshine. From the left, with current abodes in brackets, they are Steve Cook (Copthorne), Bill Boxall (Horsham), Sue (Mike’s girlfriend), Ron Knight (Vancouver), Ron Verlander (Broadbridge Heath), Norman Leppard (Handcross), David Knape (Died 2003), Ron Cosens (Yorkshire), Mike Awcock (Somerset).
The cars are Mike’s white MG Midget, and my yellow Mk II Ford Zephyr Convertible, now with a mauve lower half.
The Large Version shows, from about 1975, a couple of regulars outside the saloon bar of the Fountain in their fashionable suede jackets! They are Barry Ray and David Pearce.
