Soon after the closure of the Fountain, workmen arrived to remove all the interior fixtures and fittings in preparation of the arrival of the demolition gang.
The Large Version shows a close up of the proceedings.
Around this time David Pearce wrote a history of the pub, including his personal memories as a customer and named many of the villagers he met there. Click on Open Document to view the four-page document which was published in the Parish Magazine in two instalments.
