Royal Oak, Handcross - Bernard Miles on his bike

In the background is the Royal Oak in Handcross with a lady, probably Mrs Laura Miles, standing in the doorway. The door within the single storey extension led to the bar area.
Another photograph of the pub with its front garden still intact can be seen at picture #741.
Shortly, in common with many other pubs, the garden would disappear and be replaced by a car park.
Arguably, four-year-old Bernard Miles was the firsr person to park his vehicle in the yet-to-be-built car park!
