Coronation of George VI - Floats in the parade

A very large float from the parade for the coronation of George VI has pulled up in the Recreation Ground in Handcross. Inside is, I think, some type of commercial vehicle with one of its wheels just visible under its skirt.
The Large Version shows a close up of the well-dressed couple. Please, can anyone name them, and have they anything to do with the vehicle?
Select Open Document to view two pictures of a two-wheeled cart, drawn by a white heavy horse.
Inside the crown are two people, one of whom is a young girl looking very pensive. Who is she, I wonder!
Spookily, the man looks like King George VI.
