Silver Jubilee celebrations (4 of 9) - Sports

As part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations, children’s sports took place in the Recreation Ground on 7th June 1977.
Although the newspaper report gave the winner of the egg and spoon race as Tina Roger, I believe the above photograph shows 6-years-old Tina Rogers from Rout Farm, Warninglid crossing the line, very carefully!
Another noteable person mentioned in the newspaper was Chris “Kip” or “Kif” Green who cycled the two hundred yards from his house to the Recreation Ground on a “boneshaker” dating from 1868.
