Street Fairs at Slaugham (3 of 5)

This is an unusual view of the annual Street Fair held on the Green at Slaugham. Arthur Shopland was not content with taking “ordinary” photographs at street level and decided to climb on the roof of his house, Chilmans.
Manning their two stalls outside Carpenters Arms Cottages are Rita Botting on the left from No. 1, and Tim Brittan from No. 3, the former pub which was entered through the door on the extreme right.
Walking down the street wearing a white shirt is Dick Talman.
On this side of the road is Barbara Alderson sitting outside her house, Alba, and next to her in the pink top is her daughter, Annette Ransome.
The Large Version shows a close up.
Select Open Document to see another of Arthur’s creative photographs taken from his precarious perch on the roof of his house.
Outside Orchard house is "Bunny" Harrison.
