Staplefield Village Barbecue 2006 (1 of 3)At the Staplefield Village Barbecue in 2006 it seems that an unusual form of tug of war is about to take place. An immaculate vintage Fordson tractor is about to take on the might of half the population of Staplefield!.
It is not recorded how many casualties there were.

In this picture, David Newlan, formerly of Chodds, is driving the tractor watched by the late Reverend Michael Pearson, vicar of Staplefield prior to Slaugham and Staplefield becoming a United Benefice. Michael continued ministering in Staplefield alongside the Rector, Gary Simmonds.
Michael's wife, Angela, was his 'right-hand woman'. He sadly died suddenly last year; we have extremely fond memories of them both and miss them very much.
Gary Simmonds moved on earlier this year and we are currently without a vicar, although hopefully, the post will soon be filled.
