Car park full at Black Swan, Pease Pottage

With the advent of motor vehicles came the opportunity for day trips to the seaside by the masses to escape the urban life of London. One of the major stopping places was the Black Swan where travellers could have a drink, buy flowers, and generally enjoy the fairground atmosphere. The trippers pictured here are the Roehampton Hospital Patients on their way to Brighton.
