Further to picture #1817 and following the success of winning the junior marbles championship on Good Friday 1952, the Slaugham Scout team repeated their achievement in 1953.
More pictures for 1953 can be found on picture #968 and picture #969.
Above is a press photograph of a practice session in the scout hut showing, from the left, coach Arthur Chamberlain, David Mitchell, Tom Chamberlain, Winston the team mascot, and Brian Scott. On the day of the championship the last-named two were replaced by cubs, Ron Cosens and Barry Ray.
