Scout team at Marbles Championship (9 of 12)

For the fifth consecutive year the Slaugham Scouts won the Dawn White Shield at the British Marbles Championships.
Their captain, Tom Chamberlain, is seen here receiving the trophy from Bob Fabian, the famous Detective Superintendent of Scotland Yard.
After retiring he wrote about his real-life experiences which were dramatised in the BBC series “Fabian of the Yard”. The series ran from 1954 to 1956 and each episode finished with an epilogue spoken by the author himself.
To prevent confusion among the viewers, when the series was broadcast in America it was called “Fabian of Scotland Yard”, which may have added to the confusion!
The Large Version shows Bob Fabian speaking to me with the championship organiser, George Burbridge, in the middle with his microphone.
