In October 1952 the Handcross Women’s Institute entertained an audience of both members and non-members in the Parish Hall.
It was an important event for the newly-formed Institute choir which went on to compete in competitions at county level as this was heir first public appearance.
Two plays were produced, one of which was “Leaves before the Wind” pictured above. The cast included representatives from the Handcross Youth Club.
From the left the cast comprised: Mrs Lily Jakes, Miss E. Mitchell, Philip Etherton, Miss J. Andrews, Mr H. Ralph, Miss Suzanne Copeland, and Pat O’Shea.
