Handcross people - John Tomsett and Elsie Mitchell

The photograph was taken in about 1930 and shows John Tomsett (1847-1936) who, at that time, lived with his widowed sister-in-law, Harriett Tomsett, in a cottage next to the present-day entrance to Truggers. (See another photograph of John at picture #126)
On the right is John’s great- niece, Elsie Mitchell, later to wed Edwin “Ted” Cosens,
Elsie lived with her family at 1, Nymans Cottage in the Staplefield Road. The house in the background is “Southdown” which confirms that they are standing in the front garden of Nymans Cottages.
Mrs Elsie Cosens now lives in Yorkshire and has just celebrated her 104th birthday on 9th January, 2017.
