The picture shows jubilant shopkeepers celebrating the decision to remove the yellow lines from the eastern side of the Handcross High Street. There are Gerald Beechey from the sweet shop and Pat Manthorpe from the butcher’s shop.

Although delighted that the parking restrictions were to be lifted, the residents and shopkeepers were disappointed that, due to red tape, the yellow lines could not be removed for several months!
