Handcross stoolball team

The picture shows Brenda Rowe, captain of the Handcross stoolball team, on the left, either congratulating or commiserating with the captain and fellow players of Partridge Green.
Select Large Version to view a newspaper report on a whist drive and dance organised by the stoolball club and held in the Parish Hall on Saturday, 17th February 1934.
Once the whist drive had finished the dancing commenced with music provided by the Hornets Dance Band from Lower Beeding. It seems that the waltzes were the most popular.

Comments:
I remember Brenda from schooldays. Her brother Bernard and I were boy and girl captains of our house team at Cuckfield school.
I have a photograph somewhere of us being presented with a sports cup.
Our sports field was the park in the town. The old school was beside the church. How long ago was that?
