I cannot place the location of the “Cross Roads”. Are they at the bottom of Handcross Hill, with Staplefield to the right and Slaugham to the left? Note how far the pollarded tree outside the Red Lion protrudes into the road.

I would like to suggest that the Cross Roads are the same as those featured in picture #83, but the photograph is taken from the other side of the junction looking up Handcross Hill.
The signpost is the same style with the fingers in the same place and seems to be positioned on an island. The telegraph posts are on the same side of the road and the trees are in a similar location.
The iron fencing is similarly located in both pictures.
A map of the period shows a slight curve to the left north of the junction for the next 400 yards.
The map shows a field north of the junction on the left for about 150 yards with woodland beyond.
On the right, fields extend for about 500 yards to the north until fairly close to East Park Farm.

I have now added a close up of the picture; click on Large Version to view.
Close inspection shows very faint writing as inscribed on the picture before it was used on the multi-view postcard. Much of the writing is indistinct but I can just make out "Slaugham" which adds credence to the suggestion in the previous comment.

The Parting on the Ways picture. My granddad, Stanley Peskett, ran the grocer store next to the television store just off the picture to the right.
He lived in the house adjoining the shops in the Horsham Road, and now called Hillbury Cottage.
