Horsham Road residents fight traffic (1 of 3)

In 1990 the volume of traffic in Horsham Road, Handcross had increased to such an extent that a protest movement was formed to bring pressure on the West Sussex County Council to come up with a solution. There had already been one recent death, Sid Wright, associated with the traffic flow in that road.
One of the major problems concerned the junction where the slip road to and from the A23 dual carriageway meets the Horsham Road, with traffic from the south being unable to easily turn right into the slip road, thereby blocking other traffic wishing to go straight ahead to the village and beyond. In due course a mini roundabout was introduced to alleviate the traffic congestion.
