Pubs - Slaugham
Born in Crawley in 1953, I walked every Sunday with my father to the lakes at Slaugham.
I went to Sharrow School at Holmsted Manor, Staplefield from 1963 to 1966.
My mother was a friend of George Garner who, in the 1960s, owned Gadsdons Garage in Crawley. The Garners lived in Coos Lane in the 1960s and 1970s.
Later in my life I worked for the Pernod Ricard drinks group and recall that Vic Parish was publican at the Chequers.
Luis Gordon, who with his family lived at Furnace Pond Cottage, was chairman of the Domecq sherry group.
