The Green, Slaugham

This shows the old post office and shop on the left (now the Chequers) with its stables/workshop, and Clare Cottage the next building without its present rendered gable end. Some 20 years later the new post office and shop would be built behind the wall in the extensive garden of Clare Cottage. The presence of a cameraman has attracted four young children, two ladies and a man with his fork and wheelbarrow. The Large Version link shows a close-up of some of the inhabitants of Slaugham from well over a hundred years ago.
