Staplefield cricketers coached at County GroundIn the close season, players of Staplefield cricket club took advantage of using the nets for practice at the County Ground at Hove where they received coaching from members of the Sussex team.
The above photograph shows Staplefield opening batsman, Rex Ray, receiving tips from Jim Parks, Jnr on how to deal with short-pitched balls. Jim’s father was Jim Parks, Snr who also played for Sussex and England. Jim Parks, Snr's brother was Harry Parks who also played for Sussex between 1926 and 1948. Harry appears in picture #1451.

Jim Parks’ first class career was from 1949 to 1976 playing for England, Somerset and England. Initially he was a specialist batsman but later developed into a batsman/wicketkeeper.
Rupert Webb’s career was from 1948 to 1960, mostly as a specialist wicketkeeper.
