Wonderful.
Just as I remember it (1949 -54).
But much changed now, as we discovered during our exploration in June 2012 after the reunion lunch!

A newspaper cutting from March 1958 has come to light which records the sale of Handcross Park to Whittinghame College by the estate of Colonel J. Raymond Warren, who had died two years earlier.
Following the fire of 1935 which destroyed the old mansion, Colonel Warren had built the present building in 1938 which, it is said, cost £100,000.
Prior to the sale it had been used as a convalescent home for the "Friends of the Poor".
The cutting can be viewed by clicking on Large Version.
