Staplefield Scout Troop (2 of 3)Is everybody happy?
The wide-brimmed hats were difficult to keep flat, particularly before the invention of the steam iron. I found an ordinary iron and a damp tea towel did a good job.
Nevertheless they look very smart and it is a pleasure the see the matching black shorts and socks. My experience was that they were usually varying shades of khaki, grey, and black.
The belts were also used to hang useful objects on, such as whistles, pen knives, and 5” sheath knives.
