Warninglid village sign

The village sign is quite a new addition in this picture as can be seen from the un-weathered appearance of the stone. This original sign depicted a warrior with a beer belly to be proud of, no doubt obtained at the local pub. In contrast, the present day version depicts the same warrior but from his physique he has been paying regular visits to the local gym.

Wasn't that sign once painted or restored by a local artist who lived in Warninglid ?

Yes, it was restored by Ken Burgess when we lived at Oak Cottage from 1976 to 1982.
