Staplefield pond

According to the church clock it is 2.40 in the afternoon and a solitary head of cattle stands in the pond whilst two men on a fully-laden cart drawn by two draft horses pass by. Four posts appear to have been erected to prevent vehicles from traversing across the common through the narrow gap between the pond and the hedge. The Large Version shows a close-up of the men on the cart drawn by a pair of impressive horses with decorative harnesses.
