Queen Mary visits High Beeches

Queen Mary, the Queen’s grandmother, was a frequent visitor to High Beeches before the war and she is seen here in the garden with an attentive Lt Col Giles Loder pointing out something in the distance. She died in 1953 aged 85.

It's interesting to tie this photograph in with the WI memories video, in which my Nana, Edie Boxall, mentions Queen Mary's trips to Brantridge and Leonardslee.
(She mentions Queen Mary at 14.50 on picture #2147, but also appears on picture #2148.)
