Threshing on the Tilgate Estate

The same traction engine seen in picture #374 is used here to power a threshing machine. The picture is of poor quality but one can make out a man with a pitchfork standing on the stack either feeding the stalks to the thresher, or building a haystack from the threshed stalks. In the centre stands a man next to a cart full, it seems, of logs. A side of the cart has been removed and is leaning against a wheel. I think it is save to assume that the traction engine was fueled by wood and the man is effectively the stoker.
